Encounter Data Dental Phase 2 Submission and Reporting
CMS is announcing the release of the HPMS memo titled “Encounter Data Dental Phase 2 Submission and Reporting,” issued on May 1, 2026. This memo provides key information regarding the start of Dental Phase 2, which will begin on May 21, 2026.
As part of supporting the Phase 2 Dental implementation for encounter processing, CMS will reprocess all dental encounter data submitted between August 2024 and May 21, 2026. This effort is intended to ensure that all supplemental dental encounter data is aligned with Phase 2 edits and standards and that consistent validation is applied across all supplemental dental submissions.
We encourage all organizations to review the memo dated May 1, 2026, for detailed information regarding Phase 2 Dental requirements, submission expectations, and reporting guidance.
